Ian Sinclair

Ian Sinclair is an experimental artist, playwright & dramaturge exploring immersive & participatory installation, Live Art & anti-disciplinary approaches. Developing projects that consider fragility, queerness, & the ecological uncanny.
His collaborative company Pony Express create immersive alternate realities. Presenting nationally and internationally across a diverse array of traditional and non-traditional venues and cooperating with communities, organisations and subcultures at the forefront of environmental futures.
Sinclair is a seasonal Lecturer of the MFA Performing Arts (Iceland University of the Arts) & co-curator of Australia-China Exchange 2019-2020 (Performing Lines; Ping Pong; Australian Arts & Culture Fund).
In 2017, Sinclair won a Malcolm Robertson Foundation Emerging Writers Award for his play Whale Fall (Black Swan Theatre) & in 2018 was the Stephen Cummins Queer Bequest recipient (Performance Space).
In 2020-2021, Sinclair will premiere large-scale, immersive work Epoch Wars & plays Whale Fall at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts & Nocturna supported by the Western Australian Theatre Initiative.
