Shu-Ling Chua

Shu-Ling Chua 蔡淑羚 is a Melbourne-based essayist, poet and zine-maker. Her essay collection, Echoes, which explores small joys, nostalgia and inheritance, jointly won the Small Press Network Book of the Year Award.

Shu-Ling’s work has appeared in Peril Magazine, Meanjin, Asian American Writers’ Workshop, 4A Papers and elsewhere. She was shortlisted for the 2021 Deakin University Nonfiction Prize and 2018 Woollahra Digital Literary Award. In 2023, Shu-Ling was the inaugural recipient of Dunedin’s Caselberg Trust Margaret Egan Cities of Literature Writers Residency.

She has lived most of her life in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, and is interested in unexpected beauty, small joys and quiet epiphanies.
