The National Young Writers Festival, on behalf of Hachette Australia and Express Media, is excited to present the prize announcement for the Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers as part of our Younger Young Writers Program.

The Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers is a developmental award which was open this year to Australian secondary school-aged students across the country. The Prize aims to ignite passion for creative writing and poetry in the minds of Australia’s secondary school students, and to encourage them to pursue writing and publishing opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. It recognises writing excellence in three categories: Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry.

In this event, join author and prize mentor Zana Fraillon as we showcase the shortlisted submissions, and announce the 2022 winners!

Full readings of shortlisted works will be available online at expressmedia.org.au after the event.

Presented in partnership with Express Media.

Support NYWF
The National Young Writers’ Festival is a non-profit organisation made by and for young artists to help foster a sense of community and allow young writers to connect, share skills and hone their craft. We pride ourselves on paying all writers programmed for the festival but we are reliant on government funding and philanthropic support to make our festival happen. Your donation allows us to continue supporting young artists, increase the number of writers we are able to program, and improve our capacity and resources to hold high quality events.

NYWF is a registered non-profit, so your donation (above $2) is also tax-deductible.
