We’re looking for a Marketing and Publicity Manager! 

The National Young Writers’ Festival (NYWF) occurs annually in the city of Newcastle, New South Wales. NYWF is the country’s peak gathering of young and innovative writers working in both new and traditional forms including zines, comics, blogging, screenwriting, poetry, spoken word, hip hop music, journalism, autobiography, comedy, songwriting, podcasting and prose. The festival presents ‘writing’ in its broadest sense through panels, discussions, workshops, launches, performances, readings, installations, and more. NYWF gives young writers a place to present their work and share ideas, to learn about the industry in which they write and to meet with like-minded people in a friendly festival atmosphere.

In 2020, we are going digital, over the Labour Day holiday weekend in early October.

Our 2020 Theme: THE RAUCOUS TWENTIES! 
This year we welcome artists and audiences back to the 20’s. We’re veering out of the decade that was and into the decade that is: THE RAUCOUS TWENTIES. The world is changing (again), the future is uncertain (again), and as we enter our 23rd year, NYWF is sending out a call to arms, asking writers to look to the past and march into a future of change, prosperity, and hope.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Position: Marketing and Publicity Manager
Details: Tenure 6 months, volunteer role commencing July 2020
Honorarium: Good times, Good experience, & $2000 (plus expenses incured)
*Applicants can be based anywhere in Australia

The right person will develop and execute an effective marketing and publicity strategy aimed at enhancing the profile, promoting the festival and its artists, and increasing the audience of the (digital) National Young Writers’ Festival.

Time commitment:
Approximately one day per week depending on workload and time of year. Increased hours may apply between August and October and further around key festival dates (1-4 October). Hours can be self-delegated, however social media engagement will need to be more regular than once-weekly.
